Enjoying the finer things in life doesn't make the Eithelat snooty or weak, they do have to actively fight Ix itself in their endless quest to sniff out every last gemstone on the planet.
Biology
Eithelat can smell geology like most can smell flowers, every kind has their own aroma that can be likened to local species, both good (such as foods or flowers) and bad (corpses and farm smells). The thickened mask-like skin on their face (including their horns) contain the cells that help them locate gemstones, as well as glands around their maxilla and nose that process it into a smell. These masks are usually light neutrals in colour, like white, beige, brown. The rest of their skintones are often in the purple range from pink to blue.
