  • Kin Locale

  • The star Kin (Xin, Sin, Cin, Sykin, Sokef, et al.) has seven planets in its orbit: Dylennadra, Umeon, Ioxetus, Ull, Llosyllos, Xem, and Rin, then a dense circumstellar disk known as Shenu. Kin and Shenu share the same feature of both being Netjeru, while everything in between in the system is made up of (mostly) dormant rocks, dust, ice, and various gasses. That doesn't stop it from being a major player in many cultures, helping shape folklore and mythos.

    Planets & Satellites
    Dylennadra
    Etymology Weathered Palisade Diction dee-len'na-draw
Dylennadra is star locked, the side facing the star burnt red from absorbing Kin's heka, the far side its original natural blue colour. This planet is the largest absorber of Kin's heka.
    Umeon
    Etymology Artificer Diction oom'eon
The second planet in Kin's orbit with an ellipse of 245 days. Umeon is the only planet to harbour recognisable life, garnering its name as the Artificer. It has three natural satellites, referred to as Vanguards, from largest to smallest: Ciertes, Ylig, and Roa.
    Vanguards
    Ciertes
Etymology She Adorns the Star Dome Diction sear-tay
The largest satellite, and due to its wobble, has an odd repeating orbit between 25 and 29 days. The months are based on Ciertes's movement because it aligns with Umeon's ellipse around Kin. Gases and fire make it change colours occasionally, caused by various volcanic and other vents, as well as Kin's heka making them glow. Ciertes's size doesn't dominate Umeon's tides, it is lighter than its sister satellite, Ylig.

    Ylig
    Etymology Foille Diction eel'ihg
Ylig takes exactly 7 days to ellipse Umeon. It is tidal locked like Ciertes, but is the true tide controller, making up for its much smaller size in its metal-induced weight.

    Roa
    Etymology Squire Diction roh-ah
A trapped disparate object from Solitas Vitalis whose orbit occurs daily. Many with ground and metal controlling capabilities have attempted to pull this rock from the sky; their efforts resulting in a strange pang of disconnect.
    Ioxetus
    Etymology Lonely Aether Diction ee-oh-zeht-uhs
    Isolated sadness sphere
    Ull
    Etymology Dragon Tree Diction oo'll
Named for the netjeru, taothomet kind once believed this to be the physical form of Ull, the seed of which he was born. Now they know they were almost right, Ull did come from this planet, growing from it like in a seed in similar fashion to Cyrosophas.
    Llosyllos
    Etymology Voice Diction loss'ee'loss
Named for the netjeru due to its look resembling the visages of Llosyllos.
    Xem
Etymology Mender Diction zem / khem / shem
    Rin
    Etymology Recharging Diction rihn
Named after the Netjeru, its barycentre warped after it depleted itself saving Rinquilly. Till then it was the most sentient of planets due to its distance from Kin.

    Comets
    Eschevin   Etjeben
Etymology Magistrate   Scribe From The Beyond Diction esha-vahn eh'tch'ven
This comet has made its way into a number of cultures' folklore, namely the Valbourg and Djeart. Its name comes from the Valbourg, who first discovered it, treating its arrival (that is, being trapped by gravity) almost as if it were a new noble entering court. Its orbit is quite short and is seen every other year, though it's not nearly as bright as The Overseer.
    The Overseer   Arbiter
    Title Judge of Heka
A large, bright comet that has been pulled into close proximity of Kin. It, just like Eschevin, doesn't travel the normal paths of comets, and instead follows an almost planetary orbit around the star. These two comets sharing the same odd path is what drew so much attention to them, and the brightness of this one impressed the Valbourg, also giving it the name of The Overseer. In the past Valbourg believed it was literally ahead of Umeon in time and could reflect back what was in the future, but was also a figure of authority, so who knew the Valbourg could be responsible for a pun. Known as the Arbiter to the Mentandgar, this comet was considered responsible for the distribution of aether throughout Umeon.

    Asteroids
    Solitas Vitalis
Etymology Vital Solitude Diction sohl'ih'tahs vahy'tahl'is
The bright trail of asteroids following Ioxetus.
    Uiestemach
Etymology Fire King from the Sky Diction oo-shuh-mawk
The asteroid responsible for Illandrach's death, but in reality she did it to herself using Uiestemach. Uiestemach was useful to her due to its proximity to Umeon after it wandered out of its home in Solitas Vitalis.
    Forest of Ull
Etymology Forest of Dragon Tree Diction oo'll
Leftovers from planetary formation though very thin with smaller asteroids, the Forest of Ull is home to several planetoids and is encircled by the planet Ull, which was named for the netjeru as taothomet believed this was his true form in the past.
    Abax Teset
Etymology United Vertebrae Diction awhback teh'set
Djeart have a special relationship with their spines, so it's no surprise they believe the very essence of what upholds themselves gets to have its own resting place when the Keeper ushers them into the cosmos. It is a large group of family asteroids being pulled along the same path as Xem, Llosyllos, and Ull.
    The Graveyard
    Etymology Remanents of planet formation
Planetary formation remanents with virtually nothing going on, with only one visitor, the planet Rin that passes through two points for a short time.

    Mass Bodies, Disparate Objects
    Shards of Resolve
Etymology Shenu's will in tangible form
After Xinvos shattered Shenu into rocks, Shenu bound with local circumstellar disk objects as well as his conscious echoing through the star system, rebounding around planets, his will fractured from his physical form. The mind may wander but the body remained a protective barrier from the outer reaches of space.
