Heavily curious and very community driven, these nomadic dragon-goats were morphed by Djeart seeking a means to end a war. After which they promptly moved to the mountains far from Djeart influence, where their numbers have climbed as high as they do for salt and herbs.
Biology
They appear similar to Nyomians, only with goat- and dragon-like features: slitted pupils, pointed goat ears, horns, and hooves, with a lizard-like tail and membrane wings, its thumb spiked with a claw similar to their horns. Their hair is translucent with mostly a white appearance, and they can have any eye colour.
Their other distinctive trait is their scales, appearing in lace patterns across their body, covering parts of their face, head, back, hands and feet. There are two common types for these scales known as axra and oelu. Axra is a black almost gothic-like patterns with hard edges and points, and oelu is other neutral colours like white and grey with more rounded, cloud patterns.
The whole reason they exist is for their renaissance, becoming a creature of an immense size, sporting a reticle halo they can use to hyperfocus their rain of pristine fire. They tower above all other true taothomet in this form and making most thankful that they're incredibly friendly. This amiable behaviour and the original Gatt's collective renaissance is reason for Djeart interjection.
History
Gattlings are the result of a forced kinetic response triggered by the Djeart while altering the renaissance of a group of Nyomians known as the Gatt. Warping the existence of things and people being somewhat of a pastime for Djeart, who sought to end their war with the Zeitheir. After a few misfires they created a being that could actually stand a chance against Zeitheir. Converted into a creature capable of raining specialised fire like a barrage of bullets, and purify the lands with it.
Gatt was a tribe that settled on the borders of Bansidhe and Nechihan territory, Clarion. A place they immediately returned to after being converted into Gattling during the end of the Illandrach epoch. Saving collective Djeart ass and then dipping out entirely and moving into the mountains proper allowed for them to find peace. It also allowed them to find a new problem to worry about as a group, Clarion, the empyrean that migrated through these dark turquoise-coloured mountains.
Culture & Society
The overall demeanour of Gattlings as a whole is normally friendly to a high degree, usually showing almost no ill will towards others. Gattlings in Clarion live in nomadic groups, mostly to keep their numbers spread out as higher numbers attracts unwanted attention from the empyrean Clarion. They are very community-focused, children being raised as a group and everyone partaking in their upbringing. Most Gattlings live in Clarion in their groups, but those isolated outside of Clarion can be just as social, creating their own nomadic herds out of the misfits they pick up in their travels.
Shamans are in charge of keeping groups alert, fed, and healthy. While they harness natural abilities to heal and it is truly amazing in emergencies, it isn't the first thing Gattlings go to when something needs to be cured. Instead they gather ingredients and make salves and tinctures and anything else such as sprays that make you scream from pain and then feel great afterwards. Fire is, after all, the true cleanser, and burning means helping.
Gattling clothing is made by nearly everyone for all in the group, as most things are made into a community project on purpose. Their clothes are usually focused on protecting the body from initial winds in flight, so lots of full neck collars and shirts collared with feathers or fur appear in their fashions. Sashes hanging from the collars usually end in weights, ceremonial adornments based on children's clothing designed to keep them literally grounded and not float away in powerful winds.
The hinterlands they live in are mostly mountainous with wide fjords, rocks deep green in colour, the climate humid and subtropical often with high gales that perpetually change. The dominate plant of the area—not including nin trees—are xezrin trees, technically more of a moss-kelp that lives on land. The fortified canopies offering decent cover from most flying creatures for the Gattlings, as well as offering nice places to land, and not worry about angering them.
Mythology & Folklore
Gattlings mostly hold the same kind of beliefs as Nyomians: a respect for nature, devotion to the Vanguards, and idolisation of the empyreans. Nyomians tend to follow empyreans, and Gattlings settled in lands belonging to a considerably stationary one. This empyrean, Clarion, is infallible to them, its actions towards Gattlings seen as the result of their own intrusion on its lands and accept the outcome.
The Vanguards bring them starlight during the night, allowing them to use Vanguards to channel their heka. Nature is to be left alone, and they will be given what they need in return for the peace. Asking rather than taking, even with not being overly well versed at communicating with verdigris.
ClarionThe Diaphanous Shield; The Clear-Minded; The Aegis of Light
Clarion the beast itself has had a major influence on them, a creature both welcoming and hazardous. They stay nomadic to keep Clarion happy, any long standing in one place tends to attract its unfavourable side, but otherwise it seems rather content with their stay in its lands. Where it is currently located is one thing that makes it a ghost, being an intangible to light creature that appears as a ghostly visage similar to other nonpareil empyreans.
ArahiRipples of Light
Cloudskippers are seen as heralds from Clarion, bringing word of its arrival. This is actually arahi fleeing from the creature on the move, so it's still technically accurate.
DianocorobaosMountain Aegisdee'ah'no-core'oh-bay'ohs
A minor echelon netjeru that the Gattlings have attributed as their tutelar. They see her as a guardian of the mountains they reside in, the similar likeness bringing luck and protection against Clarion's destructive nonsense. She partakes in the meddling of taothomet affairs on a whim as random as Clarion's own migrations.
MaindronaDissimulative Vanguardmain-drone'ah
Gatt, and thus Gattlings, remained true to being Nyomians and took to being devout to the natural satellites, the Vanguards, regarding them true to their name and protecting all. Maindrona is an inky black creature that wears the mask of death, completely derived from the all-black bear-like mallios and the white fur on only their face and neck. She poses as one of the Vanguards, staid weapon readied to pierce her sisters.
